Phoenix, Arizona - The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University will host a joint Basic Medical Sciences and Biomedical Informatics departmental seminar series in downtown Phoenix on alternate Thursdays, beginning, Sept. 4, from noon - 1 p.m.
The educational series takes place at the College of Medicine - Phoenix’s Virginia G. Piper Auditorium, 550 E. Van Buren.
The Sept. 4 lecture will feature Brian Smith, PhD, professor in the ASU School of Life Sciences, who will discuss the “Neuroethology of Sensory Processing.” Dr. Smith will focus on how animals learn relationships among stimuli in their environment.
The first four Basic Medical Sciences-hosted sessions are sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Massachusetts-based company produces lab equipment, software and other materials used in health care, scientific research and education.
The College of Medicine – Phoenix opened its doors in August 2006 and is working to expand the state’s only allopathic medical college.
The Basic Medical Sciences department is part of the UA College of Medicine; Biomedical Informatics is part of the School of Computing and Informatics in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University.
The presentations are free. There is a fee for parking.
