Yuma, Arizona - Northern Arizona University has announced plans to relocate the University’s Public Agency Management programs to Yuma, effective Fall 2008. Over-sight and administration of these programs will be added to the responsibilities of NAU-Yuma’s Associate Vice President/Campus Executive Officer Larry Gould, Ph.D. During its first five years, the relatively new program of Public Agency Management has achieved acclaim for NAU. Over 300 students have successfully completed requirements for the degree programs, and now represent NAU within Federal, State, County or City government jobs. Another 227 students are actively engaged in their degree programs. These individuals will become students of the Yuma Branch Campus, increasing the NAU-Yuma student count by almost 50%. The move to Yuma will not only make this program more visible to all prospective students throughout the Lower Colorado River Region, but will ease access for current and prospective students through out the entire state. Like all programs available from NAU-Yuma, the courses will be available through a mix of in-classroom teaching, instructional television, and on-line courses. Class times and course schedules will be established with both our full-time and our part-time/working students in mind. The program allows students to select areas of specialization, including: Administration of Justice, Emergency Services Administration, Public Administration, and Social & Community Services, each of which can be attained as either a B.S., a B.A., or a B.A.S. The program is available as part of NAU’s 90/30 degree completion plan, which allows students to transfer up to 90 hours of community college credit into NAU. Offering these options afford all students maximum credit for previous higher education coursework. Dr. Gould is available to speak to employee groups and community organizations about this program.
