Yuma, Arizona - On Sunday July 20, 2008 at about 12:15 pm Yuma Fire Department personnel responded to the Southgate Mall 3140 S. 4th Avenue regarding a report of a roof collapse and flooding. Arriving YFD personnel found some businesses on the east end of the mall had several inches of standing water.

The roof was checked by aerial ladder for signs of visible damage or collapse but none was found. The water appeared to have pooled on the roof due to the storm and leaked through. Employees from the businesses and Southgate Mall began clean-up operations.

During, and after the storm that swept through Yuma late Sunday morning, the Yuma Fire Department responded to a number of reported alarm calls, and arcing power lines. Rain water from the storm was also believed to have caused arcing and a small fire in an electrical box on a home in the 1700 block of 10th Avenue.
