San Luis, Arizona - Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva, announced today that more than $5 million in Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants have been awarded to housing projects throughout Yuma, Pima Mohave, and Maricopa counties, funding eight projects. “The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco continues to be an important partner in increasing the supply of affordable homes and rental units,” said Rep. Grijalva. “I welcome their attention to Southern Arizona and look forward to our continued partnership to ensure that more families have quality affordable housing options.” Projects funded this year in Rep. Grijalva’s district include Casas del Old Pueblo, in Tucson and Frontera Homes in San Luis, respectively. Casas del Old Pueblo was granted $900,000 which will result in assistance for 40 low-income first-time home owners. Frontera Homes was granted $680,000 which will result in assistance for 34 low-income first-time home owners. Designed as a flexible, competitive funding source, the AHP provides grants and below-market loans to develop and rehabilitate single-family and multifamily projects targeting very low- to moderate-income households. Member financial institutions, in partnership with community-based housing sponsors, submit applications for specific projects and programs twice a year. |
