Yuma, Arizona - Yuma, Arizona’s 20th Street will be closed for approximately eight (8) weeks beginning Monday, June 16th. As a part of the Villa Hermosa neighborhood street replacement project, 20th Street will be closed to all traffic from Avenue B to Athens Avenue beginning June 16th. This closure should last approximately eight (8) weeks, with 20th Street scheduled to reopen in mid-August.Contractors working for the City of Yuma will be installing new water lines as well as removing and then replacing the existing pavement. The construction on 20th Street is part of the larger Villa Hermosa project which will reconstruct existing streets in the Villa Hermosa #2 subdivision including replacement of the roll curb and gutter with new vertical curb and gutter on 21st Lane, 21st Place, 21st Street, 20th Place, 27th Way, 28th Avenue, 29th Avenue, 25th Drive, and 27th Avenue. The Villa Hermosa #2 project is a part of the City’s Ten-Year Capital Improvement Program. The construction of 20th Street was scheduled to coincide with the Summer Break at Pueblo Elementary and Centennial Middle Schools. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use 24th Street and 16th Street during the closure period. Just a reminder, motorists willfully avoiding traffic control devices, driving around road closure barricades, or driving down canal banks may be cited by the Yuma Police Department. |
