Yuma, Arizona - It’s shady…but we mean that only in the good sense of the word.
The City’s newest park, Ponderosa Neighborhood Park, located at 26th Place and 29th Drive, is complete and ready to go with a feature that many residents have been asking for - a shaded playground for children.
To celebrate the occasion, the City of Yuma is inviting everyone to “come out and enjoy” the park during its grand opening on June 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. Parks & Recreation will be holding fun games and activities. The Parks division will be cooking and giving away free hot dogs and refreshments to the first 100 people.
“This is our first free event of the summer, ‘Play on the Go’ at Ponderosa Park,” said Recreation Supervisor Debbie Wendt.
In addition to the sunshade over the playground, Ponderosa Park has a picnic area that is ready for use with the installation of shade trees - well, they’ll be shady after they grow in a few years - plus a barbecue grill, picnic table, and a drinking fountain in an area that is big enough to set up your personal popup shade cover. |
