Lukeville, Arizona - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers captured a man with methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle he was driving and also prevented more than 200 pounds of marijuana from entering the United States. “The officer’s were able to make these excellent seizures due to excellent training, developed skills in behavioral analysis and job experience,” said Port Director Richard A. Gill. “All of our officers are dedicated professionals and are very good at what they do-keeping America safe from contraband and terrorist activity while protecting the revenue.” On May 29, a 46-year-old man applied for entry into the U.S. driving a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. The CBP officer’s referred the man to the secondary lot for further inspection where 21 packages of methamphetamine were found hidden in the frame rails with a weight of more than 20 pounds. The driver was immediately arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation. The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $1,467,200.00 On May 31, a 35-year old man applied for entry into the U.S. driving a 2006 Chevy Tahoe pulling a pop-up trailer. The man was referred to the secondary lot for further inspection accompanied by his passengers where the officers discovered over 200 pounds of marijuana hidden in the pop-up trailer. The man and a passenger were immediately arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $609,000.00 |
