Douglas, Arizona - Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Douglas port of entry commercial cargo facility will be providing an additional 2 hours of service on Saturdays to the international trade community beginning May 16. Officials working at the adjacent Agua Prieta, Sonora facility in Mexico will also increase their level of service by adopting the expanded hours of operation.

Under the pilot plan, the cargo facility will open on Saturday’s from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The current hours from Monday through Friday remain the same. The cargo facilities are currently open to receive commercial traffic from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday. They are closed Sundays.

Local CBP managers have worked closely with the Douglas International Port Authority, Mexican counterparts and the state of Arizona regarding the upcoming test. Port of entry officials will closely monitor traffic and assess the overall impact of the temporary expansion of service hours. Traffic measurements will play an important role in determining the feasibility of making the extended service hours permanent. Other factors will also be considered.

CBP is committed to working with industry representatives, border stakeholders, Mexican government counterparts, elected officials, and other federal agencies to seek opportunities to support our mission of securing the borders while ensuring the flow of legitimate trade and travel across our borders.
