Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College, KAWC, Yuma Public Radio and PBS Channel 8 proudly present a Special Preview Screening of "Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio in the Red Shoes” on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00pm at the Historic Yuma Theater. Doors open at 6:30pm, come early to meet the staff of KAWC, get your free popcorn and enjoy the show with your fellow KAWC listeners. Keillor's down-home commentary and love of the authentically American have made him into an "everyman philosopher." His highly entertaining radio show with songs and stories is written with a poet's heart. While comparisons will be made between him and America's great humorists and essayists--from H.L. Mancken to Mark Twain, James Thurber, Robert Frost and Will Rogers, Garrison Keillor is unique. In this untraditional biography, we begin to see how and why. "Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio in the Red Shoes" will premier on PBS in July. This special preview is sponsored in part by The Yuma Art Center and Desert Veterinary Clinic. It is free and open to the public. |
