Yuma, Arizona - On Thursday, January 08, 2009 at 12:28 pm, the Yuma Police Department responded to an injury accident in the 900 block West 24th Street. The investigation revealed a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo driven by Francisca Brooks, 30 years olds of Yuma, was eastbound in the center turn lane in the 900 block West 24th Street. Brooks attempted to avoid another vehicle in turn lane and veered left of center resulting in a head-on collision with a westbound 2001 Toyota Sequoia driven by, Elizabeth Sells, 53 years old of Yuma. The two drivers and Brooks’ 9 year old daughter were transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for varying degrees of injuries. Brooks and her daughter were not wearing any seat belts. Brooks sustained serious injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. Brooks’ 9 year old daughter, who was the front seat passenger, sustained life-threatening injuries and later flown to a Phoenix hospital. The 9 year old is currently in stable condition. Sells, who was properly restrained and had an air bag deployment, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released yesterday. No citations have been issued at this time.
