San Luis, Arizona - United States Customs and Border Protection Field Operation officers arrest five people on separate cases and various charges. Yesterday, just before 11 a.m., a 37- year-old Mexican citizen man was arrested for attempting to smuggle 88 pounds of marijuana within the dashboard of the Dodge voyager he was driving. The man was referred to the vehicle secondary lot by a CBP Field Operation officer screening travelers entering the U.S. It was in the secondary lot where the officers received the assistance of a drug detector dog and the 38 packages of 88 pounds of marijuana were discovered. The marijuana and vehicle were both seized. The man was turned over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for further investigation. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $141,000. A 58- year-old Mexican man was arrested on January 4 at approximately 6 a.m., for having an active warrant out of the state of Utah for a felony robbery. The warrant was discovered by a CBP Field Operation officer who was conducting queries of travelers entering the U.S. from Mexico. The man was turned over to the San Luis Police Department for further disposition. A 33- year-old Unites States citizen man was arrested on January 4 just after midnight for having an active warrant for failure to appear. The warrant was discovered by a CBP Field Operation officer who was conducting queries of travelers entering the U.S. from Mexico. Another U.S. citizen man, 31- years-old, was arrested on January 4 just after 6 p.m., for a parole violation based off of his original arrest of burglary. The warrant was discovered by a CBP Field Operation officer who was conducting queries of travelers entering the U.S. from Mexico. The man was turned over to the San Luis Police Department for further disposition. An individual using a false border crossing card was caught at approximately 11 a.m., by a CBP officer who was screening travelers entering the U.S. from Mexico. The 31- year-old Mexican man presented a document which did not belong to him and it was apparent to a CBP officer. The man was immediately arrested and detained for immigration processing for having no legal documents to enter the United States. It was also discovered the undocumented man had attempted to enter the U.S. on a prior occasion and caught by CBP Border Patrol agents. |
