Yuma Sector Agents Render Aid to Heart Attack Victim PDF Print E-mail

Dateland, Arizona - Yuma Sector CBP agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint, provided medical aid to a woman suffering from cardiac arrest, Sunday afternoon.

About 3:20 p.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to Wellton Station observed a gray SUV approaching the Interstate 8 immigration checkpoint located near Dateland, Ariz. As the vehicle stopped, agents observed that one of the passengers appeared to be non-responsive and subsequently quit breathing. Agents provided medical aid and began rescue breathing until advanced medical care arrived.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., Life Flight arrived on scene and transported the victim to a Phoenix area hospital. The woman remains in critical care.

Agents were commended by EMS personnel on their rapid response in stabilizing the woman on scene.
