Yuma, Arizona - The investigation continues into the disappearance of Damaris Herrera. The updated information indicates Damaris’s mother, Chrystal Abren Lopez has fled to Mexico and had knowledge where Damaris was all along. Detectives believe Damaris Herrera was in Mexico since December 10.

Today Yuma Police Detectives arrested Damaris’s older brother Richard Alvarez, 18 years old of Yuma, in San Luis, Arizona. Alvarez was booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Facility for Fraudulent schemes, custodial interference, false information to a law enforcement and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Chrystal Lopez is being sought for similar charges.

The Yuma Police Department continues to work in collaboration with the Mexican Officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to locate Damaris Herrera and Chrystal Lopez.

Damaris Herrera is described as a 10 year old Hispanic Female, 4’8, 78 lbs with shoulder length brown hair & eyes.

Chrystal Lopez is described as a 41 year old Hispanic female, 5’6, 200 lbs with brown hair and eyes.

Yuma Police Department Detectives are asking anyone that knows Chrystal Lopez or Damaris Herrera’s whereabouts or have any information about this case to please call Detective Tejeda or Sgt. Rodriguez at (928) 783-4421 or 78-crime to remain anonymous.
