Officers Nab More Fugitives, Illegal Immigrants at San Luis Port of Entry PDF Print E-mail

San Luis, Arizona - United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Luis port of entry made five arrests on warrants alone and several immigration violations in just two days.

“Our officer’s are very skilled and good at utilizing the resources they are given,” said Port Director William K. Brooks “This is why we now have over five people behind bars.”

At approximately 2 p.m., on Sunday, a CBP officer was screening travelers entering the U.S. through the pedestrian entrance from Mexico. The officer escorted a 17-year-old United States citizen man to the office due a warrant notification during the primary screening.

In the secondary office the man was interviewed and database queries were conducted where it was determined he had an outstanding warrant for auto-theft. The man was immediately arrested and turned over to the San Luis Police Department.

On the same date, approximately one hour later, a CBP officer was screening travelers entering the U.S. through the vehicle primary lanes from Mexico. The officer referred the 19-year-old United States citizen woman to the vehicle secondary lot for further inspection.

In the secondary lot the woman was interviewed and database queries were conducted where it was determined she had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. The woman was immediately arrested and turned over to the San Luis Police Department.

On Monday, at approximately 11:20 p.m., a CBP officer was screening travelers entering the U.S. through the pedestrian entrance from Mexico. The officer referred a 32-year-old United States citizen man to the office for further inspection.

In the secondary office the man was interviewed and database queries were conducted where it was determined he had an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license. The man was immediately arrested and turned over to the San Luis Police Department.

On the same day, just about 30 minutes later, a CBP officer was screening travelers entering the U.S. through the pedestrian entrance from Mexico. The officer referred a 65-year-old United States citizen man to the office for further inspection due to a warrant notification during primary screening.

In the secondary office the man was interviewed and further database queries were conducted where it was determined he had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. The man was immediately arrested and turned over to the San Luis Police Department.

A third warrant occurred on the same date, at approximately 3 p.m., a CBP officer was screening travelers entering the U.S. through the pedestrian entrance from Mexico. The officer referred a 29-year-old United States citizen man to the pedestrian office.

In the secondary office the man was interviewed and database queries were conducted where it was determined he had an outstanding warrant for possession of paraphernalia. The man was immediately arrested and turned over to the San Luis Police Department.

On November 16, at approximately 10 a.m., a 21-year-old Mexican man applied for entry into the United States by presenting a birth certificate. A CBP officer screening travelers entering the country from Mexico discovered the man was not the rightful owner of the birth certificate. The man had no valid Immigration document to enter, work, or live in the United States. Therefore, the CBP officers’ determined him to be inadmissible under the Immigration and Naturalization Act. The man was taken into custody for immigration processing and possible prosecution.

On the same date, at approximately 5 p.m., a 40-year-old Mexican man attempted to enter the United States without inspection by a Customs and Border Protection officer. He was found to have no valid Immigration document to enter, work, or live in the United States. Therefore, the CBP officers’ determined him to be inadmissible under the Immigration and Naturalization Act. The man was taken into custody for immigration processing and possible prosecution.

Later, on the same date, a 30-year-old Mexican man applied for entry into the United States by presenting his border crossing card (DSP-150/laser visa). He was referred to the vehicle secondary lot for further inspection.

In secondary the officers determined the man was found to be in violation of the immigration and naturalization laws for working and living in the U.S. without authorization. He was detained and processed for the immigration violations.
