Nogales, Arizona - In 11 days, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Nogales ports of entry foiled 26 attempts to smuggle narcotics into the United States and prevented 73 immigration violators from entering the U.S. illegally.

CBP Expands Commercial Operating Hours at Douglas Port of Entry

Douglas, Arizona - Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Douglas port of entry commercial cargo facility will be providing an additional 2 hours of service on Saturdays to the international trade community beginning May 16. Officials working at the adjacent Agua Prieta, Sonora facility in Mexico will also increase their level of service by adopting the expanded hours of operation.

Members of Congress Call for Increased Mental Health Program Funding for Soldiers and Veterans

Washington, DC - Today, Reps. Michael E. McMahon and Thomas J. Rooney will be calling for an increase in mental health funding in the FY 2010 budget for the Department of Defense, with a large veteran presence expected to be in attendance to support Reps. McMahon’s and Rooney’s recommendation.

Border Patrol Agents Foil Two Smuggling Attempts - Tunnel Discovered

Nogales, Arizona - United States Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Sector made a significant discovery and an arrest in less than 24 hours. In one incident, a group of fifty-three illegal aliens were arrested near the village on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation. In a separate incident, a smuggler’s illicit tunnel was discovered in Nogales, Arizona.
