Yuma, Arizona - On Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at about 7:15 pm a fire was reported at The Children’s Center, 1701 South Avenue B. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found heavy smoke coming from the building. Firefighters found a fire burning in ceiling areas of the building. |

Washington, DC - Today, the Natural Resources Committee adopted a resolution to require the Secretary of Interior to withdraw public lands adjacent to the Grand Canyon National Park from uranium mining activities. Representative Raul M. Grijalva, Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, introduced the resolution. |

The YFD engine company joined engines and firefighters from the Calexico Fire Department, Imperial Fire Department, Holtville Fire Department, and the Brawley Fire Department. |

Yuma Fire Department Responds to California Wildfires |

 Yuma, Arizona - This afternoon the Yuma Fire Department was requested to provide an Engine Company for mutual aid assignment to wildfires in central California. An engine with four YFD personnel (1 Captain, 1 Engineer, and 2 Firefighters) left just after 4:00 pm for Brawley, California where they will join other Imperial Valley area fire service units.
