Washington, DC - Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva introduced a bill to remove lands in the Coronado National Forest and certain lands owned by Pima County and the federal government from future hard rock mining claims.

Yuma County Detention Academy Class Graduation

Yuma, Arizona - This evening at 6:00, The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Detention Academy Class #65 will be graduating 9 new officers. The graduation ceremony will be held at Gila Vista Junior High School in the cafeteria.

CBP Officers Intercept Gun, Money, Dope

Lukeville, Arizona - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer’s work is so unpredictable when dealing with the traveling public. The CBP officer’s job entails sifting through law abiding citizens to catch the small percentage of smugglers. In the last few days the officers sifting resulted in a successful find of a loaded weapon, money, and marijuana.

CBP Officers Have Busy Week in Arizona, Seize more than $2 Million in Drugs

San Luis, Arizona - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers during the last several days seized more than 72 pounds of cocaine and 231 pounds of marijuana worth more than $2.4 million.

Memento's Donates to Assist the AWC 2009 Upward Bound Program

Yuma, Arizona - For the second year, Arizona Western College announced that locally owned scrapbooking and card making store, Memento’s, has donated a large amount of supplies for the Upward Bound Summer Program held on the AWC campus each summer.

13th Avenue Residential Fire - Firefighters Receive Mild Electrical Shocks

Yuma, Arizona - At 10:20 am this morning a fire was reported in the 400 block of South 13th Avenue. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found heavy smoke and fire coming from 420 S. 13th Ave. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it was able to spread to other homes. Live electrical wires were initially a problem, with 2 firefighters receiving mild shocks from downed wires.
